WHY ME??!!!! |
|

I never really thought that I was a page rank conscious blogger. However, I have to admit that my meager PR 1 was all I had here in the blogosphere. So now, imagine how upsetting it could get when I finally decided to take a buyblogreview opportunity, only to find out just a few minutes ago that I have lost my PR. Now, I'm back to a whopping PR O. I haven't even been able to submit my entry yet!!!! Why?Why?Why?!!! What is it with google this days??!!! I don't even have my buyblogreviews logo since I reconstructed my blog. Arrrgghh!!!! so frustrating!!!!!

My blog visitors must have been wondering what's keeping me busy. Honestly, I decided to sleep yesterday. It felt like ages since I've got a real sleep. I just came from a meeting at San Fernando, Pampanga. I wasn't able to get much sleep during the bus ride. So that was that..a date with me and my bed after my long journey. :)

When the going gets tough... |

I really am not the type to just leave a problem and then walk away. But sometimes, I would really love to do so!! I'd love to say this to someone at work and I just can't. It seems like on the verge of coming out of my mouth...and I'm doing the best I can not to...

Lenten Season: What and Why is it? |
Thursday, March 20, 2008 |
This is not my own writing..but for the sake of presenting some facts about the Lenten Season....
The highlight of the year for
Christians is Easter, the day when our Lord rose from the dead. Lent is a forty-day season of preparation for Easter. Lent always begins on a Wednesday, called Ash Wednesday. Why 40 days? Because, Jesus fasted and was tempted in the wilderness for 40 days. Lent, then, is our time of fasting, prayer, temptation and repentance. Lent is not required anywhere in scriptures, but it has been a custom, which Christians have practiced for most of the last two thousand years. In many languages, the word "Lent" actually means "fast." This is where the custom of giving up something for Lent originated. However, just to confuse things, Lent is actually 46 days rather than 40 days. Why? Because the 40 days of Lent are supposed to be days of fasting, which means days of discipline and self-restraint. But Sunday, the Lord's Day, should never be a day of fasting, but a day of celebration! So each Sunday we suspend our Lenten disciplines and celebrate. Lent is 40 "fasting" days spread out over a total of 46 days beginning on Ash Wednesday. The focus of Lent was always threefold: It was a time to prepare new converts for baptism through intensive classes and instruction. It was a time for long-standing Christians to review their lives and renew their commitment to Jesus Christ. It was a time for backsliders to be restored to the faith. In every case, it is a time for serious, disciplined self-examination, a time spent in intensive prayer and repentance before the cross of Calvary. To represent the dark and serious business of Lent, one custom has been to strip the sanctuary of all flowers, candles, and colors during Lent. This custom helps us to turn inward and examine ourselves, even as it reminds us of the dark and colorless Sabbath day when Jesus lay dead in the tomb. Put simply, Lent is a time to examine ourselves carefully. Here are some questions upon which you might pray and meditate during Lent: Am I sharing gladly what I have with others, especially the stranger and the poor? Do I have a gracious and patient attitude with others, especially those who irritate me? Do I feel the power of connection to God and the church in corporate worship? How is my devotional and prayer life progressing? Am I listening to God more and complaining less? Is it time for a change or a growth in my Bible study and prayer life? What are the lurking sin problems, which still plague me? Am I as thoughtful and forgiving of family as others, or do I take my frustrations out on them? Do I speak up for the maligned and oppressed, or do I remain silent in order to remain popular?

Hidden In Plain View |
Friday, March 14, 2008 |
I just got this from my friendster and I honestly don't know who authored it...but i still think its a good read..
The most valuable secret of success is that there is no secret. Success comes not from seeking to uncover some exotic hidden formula, but rather through persistently following through on opportunities to create value. The best shortcut to achievement is to avoid looking for a shortcut. Simply get busy and do the work required, for that is the quickest way to reach the goal you've set. The most effective way to handle what must be done is to do it. Procrastinating, agonizing, complaining and avoiding will only prolong the task and add greater difficulty to it. Life is not always easy, and wishing for things to be easier will usually make them more difficult. The time- tested strategy for making life truly easier is to go ahead and work through each challenge as it comes along. By so doing, you grow stronger, more capable, more effective and more experienced. You put yourself in position to live life on your own terms. The route to success is no secret, and is in fact hidden in plain view. Use every opportunity to make a difference, and you'll go precisely where you choose to go.

Home Alone.. |
Wednesday, March 12, 2008 |
As of this writing, I am here at our house and I have just finished making a report for our office which was due yesterday. Well, this is my second day of staying home from work. You see, I finally had the courage to tell them that I wouldn't be able to come because I was suffering from an asthma attack and also had a fever. Now you wonder..what am I doing in front of the computer????!!!! Like I said, I just finished making a report. As it turns out(i kind of expected it somehow), there was a report due yesterday and it seems like I'm the only one who knows how the report is done. So here I am, home alone..with a groggy head and watery eyes..making a report that I wasn't really sure whether I should be doing or not. I did it anyway...phew!!!! I really can't say no to them... :(

Strawberry Festival...Marching In |
|
After the "Baguio Flower Festival" or "Panagbenga" in Baguio City last February 2008, another festival comes marching in. The Municipality of La Trinidad, aside from being known as the "Salad Bowl of the Philippines", has also gained its distinction as the "Strawberry Capital of the Philippines". This could be attributed to the growing popularity of Benguet's strawberries. In lieu of this, La Trinidad shall be celebrating its annual "Strawberry Festival", which will kick-off on March 19, 2008. However, I will be one of those who will surely miss the baking of the giant strawberry cake. For the information of everyone, La Trinidad is the Guinness Book of World Records holder for the largest fruit shortcake ever baked, measuring 8.75 feet in width, 12.3 feet in length and 8.4 feet in height. Apparently, according to Sun Star, during their interview with Mayor Artemio Galwan, La Trinidad will feature a video showing how the giant cake was made. This is to pay tribute to all those who participated in its success during the previous years. While the "Strawberry Festival" has not yet gained its popularity, it is perceived that with the right amount of publicity, funding and of course proper management, the said festivity may also become as famous as the Baguio Flower Festival.

What's new??? |
Friday, February 29, 2008 |
What's new with me? Not much actually..People are probably wondering where the hell am I?..Well,on a typical Saturday I usually stay home. I'm a home buddy so to speak, considering that I live about 7 kilometers from town, I find myself lazy to take the almost 1 hour trip just to find something to do. I used to love going out, but come to think of it..I'm usually in my room during a Saturday..(during the daytime that is..hehehe). I love going out at night..i don't know why. But there's something about the dark sky that seems so appealing to me. I'm no vampire, that's for sure. I guess I'm a nocturnal person. Besides, I love sulking alone at home when the parents aren't around. When my mom goes home after her 8 hour office work, that's when i disappear and go out of the house. So much for Saturdays....

About Me |

Name: RJ
Home: Baguio City, Philippines
About Me: I'm pretty much normal and sane. Much like anybody I believe that each and every person is unique, with their strengths and weaknesses. Thus, everyone should be given a chance to prove themselves.
I stand firm with my convictions, but that doesn't necessarily mean that nobody can prove me wrong, I have learned that one is entitled to his or her own opinion. Just the same, you won't usually see me standing in the sidelines waiting for somebody to prove a point. I guess this is the foremost reason why this blog was created...
And so I leave it all up to you to read between the lines..and begin to know me with the way I express myself through my writings..
